Michael Ellison
Art Associate
Mick Ellison studied art at the Edinburgh Art College in Scotland and received his BFA in 1987 at the Maryland Institute College of Art. He joined the staff of the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) in 1990, where he is a scientific illustrator and photographer in the Division of Paleontology. His work has appeared on the covers of Nature, Science, Natural History Magazine, and the Science Times section of The New York Times. Mick’s free-lance clients include National Geographic, Time, Newsweek, Discover, Nova, BBC and CNN. Mick has also provided illustrations and photographs for a number of books, including Discovering Dinosaurs (Knopf), A Nest of Dinosaurs (Doubleday), and several children’s classic stories (Reader’s Digest). Mick work at the AMNH requires extensive travel, most notably to Asia, where he has been on expeditions in China, Mongolia, Thailand and Myanmar. Mick is currently living in New York City with his family.
